Hesitation in Lavender
Hesitation in Lavender
Colored Pencil
16" x 21" Framed
2016

I combined the faces of two different women in this piece. The left side is more finished and more defined. The right side is less realistic and is loosing definition. I wanted to express the struggle many women have. The left side of the face is who she is or perhaps who she wants to be, She wants to be "real". The right side of her face is how she believes her world wants her to be. Something that is just "pretty" and lacks substance. Hre "hesitation" is in the earring. If she puts it on, she will become what is represented on the right side of her face.
