"Eve" is my first finished colored pencil portrait. I wanted to portray a different image of Eve. The conventional idea of Eve is the woman who ate the apple and led mankind into sin. I wanted to portray a woman of more depth, a more rounded, complex, human woman. Eve is also the giver of life. In my picture, Eve holds the apples to symbolize life and bounty- the gift she offers. The apples do not symbolize evil. Like Eve, we all are a complex contradiction wanting to do right and often failing.
